Radicular cyst with severe destruction of the buccal cortical plate secondary to endodontic failure.

چکیده
This case report highlights a massive radicular cyst with respect to the lower left premolars, that developed secondary to endodontic failure and resulted in buccal cortical bone destruction. It also discusses the investigation and the surgical approach which were carried out with regard to the cyst. Following surgical closure, the teeth were endodontically retreated. It also highlights the fact that mandibular true occlusal radiographs could be misleading with regard to the extent of bone destruction, which can otherwise be confirmed on CT scans.

Bilateral Radicular Cyst with Severe Destruction of the Buccal Cortical Plate Secondary to Endodontic Failure.
Large apical radiolucencies after endodontic treatment are usually advised orthograde retreatment, apical surgery and that too with a guarded prognosis. Microsurgical techniques, the use of ultrasonic and magnification aides, have been in use in the developed countries for the past few decades and have shown significant improvement in long-term success of such cases. MTA is proposed as one of t...

BACKGROUND AND AIM: A periapical endodontic surgery is an alternative treatment when teeth are not responding to conventional treatment and endodontic re-treatment.CASE REPORT: The following case report presents a clinical case of maxillary right and left central incisors with unsatisfying endodontic surgery and severe sensitivity in the buccal mucous membrane. Radiographic examination revealed...
متن کاملMeasuring the thickness of buccal cortical bone of maxillary premolar teeth by cone beam computed tomography technique
Background and Aims: Immediate implant placement following tooth extraction is a treatment with many advantages. Alveolar bone preservation after immediate implant, need minimum of 2 mm thickness in buccal bone plate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the thickness of buccal cortical bone of maxillary premolars by Cone Beam Computational Tomography (CBCT) technique. Materials and Methods: ...
متن کاملEndodontic-periodontal management of a maxillary lateral incisor with an associated radicular lingual groove and severe periapical osseous destruction--a case report.
Radicular lingual grooves are morphological defects, which are found most frequently in maxillary anterior teeth and are a predisposing factor for periodontal disease. They are easily overlooked as aetiologic factors, as these grooves are covered by periodontal tissues. This case report presents a successful management of a case of a maxillary lateral incisor with an associated radicular lingua...
متن کاملManagement of large periapical cystic lesion by aspiration and nonsurgical endodontic therapy using calcium hydroxide paste.
AIM To report a case of conservative nonsurgical management of periapical lesions. BACKGROUND Small periapical lesions of endodontic origin usually heal by conventional endodontic therapy alone. Larger periapical lesions presumed to be cystic may require additional treatment protocols to aid in regression. Conservative nonsurgical management of such lesions eliminates the possible complicatio...
